Adopt Your Watershed
A Good Idea
Description
To encourage stewardship of the nation's water resources, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is leading an "Adopt Your Watershed" campaign. Through this effort, EPA challenges citizens and organizations to join us and others who are working to protect and restore our valuable rivers, streams, wetlands, lakes, ground water, and estuaries.
Goal / Mission
The goal of Adopt Your Watershed is to encourage environmental stewardship.
Results / Accomplishments
By visiting the campaign's on-line database, you can learn about opportunities to get involved in activities in your community, such as monitoring, cleanups, and restoration projects. As of February 2006, the database had more than 4,000 groups that you might want to join. As part of this effort, the campaign has also developed two special educational projects--the Girl Scout Water Drop Patch Project and the Watershed Patch Project--that are specially targeted to youth.
