Active Living Research
Active living is a way of life that integrates physical activity into daily routines. The goal is to get at least 30 minutes of activity a day. This can be achieved in many different ways, from walking or bicycling to the corner store to playing or gardening in a neighborhood park.
Since 2001, ALR has been at the forefront of building evidence on how to create communities that increase opportunities for physical activity. We have learned that communities designed for activity are better for health, economic vitality, and environmental sustainability.
Our mission is to work with governments, the private sector, and advocacy groups to apply the lessons of research to building great communities.
